I've Got the Googles
Following a tip from Binjeing Ninja, I googled myself and found that Elizabeth Meryment, aka the Food Detective from the Weekend Australian (clearly lacking in the "detective" department), had quoted liberally from this blog in a discussion about Choux, but somehow managed to get the name of the site wrong. Hark, we have been rechristened the Hobart Dining Bitch.

And here I was, thinking journalists always checked their facts. Silly me! But c'est la vie, nice to be noticed on the big island (even if only because she was trying to track down Choux).
But never fear, Ms Meryment (surely that's not your real name), according to word on the street, Choux is closed for renovations. Shame about the answering machine, I agree. This issue of unanswered phones does seem to be a recurrent problem at Choux. I wonder if they've thought of call diversion?
On the topic of googling oneself (admit it, we all do it), I also found Restaurant 373 had cut and pasted my review onto their website for promotional purposes. An unexpected outcome, but I can't grumble. I like to give praise where it's due. And then I like to rip out the eyes of unsuspecting waiters and eat their children.
Oh, whoops, maybe that's the Hobart Dining Bitch?

Dear restaurant/dining bitch.
Now that there are two of you, we can look forward to twice as many reviews.
I suppose it takes Choux to tango.
Ouch, sorry.
Anon, I hurt my neck wincing at that pun. I'll have my lawyer call your lawyer about the compo claim!
Hey, I'd like to give a big shout out to Elizabeth Meryment and hope that she has some journalistic credability and checks her facts first!
Anon, you are just choux funny!
Georgie, on the issue of phone diversion would you like to be interupted by phone calls on your holiday? Maybe a sign or add would have been better
rumour has it choux has gone for ever by the sounds of it, not gospel but rumour,( fairly good authority though)
Don't count your chickens
Last time I was at Choux a little sentence on the bottom of the menu said they were closing for renovations the following week and would reopen as 'Ruby Chard' in a month or so - the waitress said they would be more restaurant-ish and less patisserie-like...
Ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa
Does anyone know if Lebrina in New Town is still open?
I can't get anyone there to answer the phone..
That can be a constant battle sometimes, but do persevere
Tried to book in at Lebrina a couple of weeks ago and they were trading (but no room at the inn for me that night).
On the topic of trying to book a table, it can be an irritation actually getting through to some establishments during daylight hours.
I know they've invented answering machines, but that doesn't really cut it. In fact, it just puts the customer in the situation of not knowing whether to book somewhere else just in case the preferred venue is book out.
Yea no answering machines, great idea! That way the poor staff can hang around all day AND night waiting for Stephen to call!
Anon, a great idea which works for me!
But that still leaves a problem for all you other people who aren't at the centre of the universe. Maybe something along the lines of online booking? Diners could even pre-select the table they want.
Until Stephen gets a blog of his own, which I can ignore, I will have to stop visiting HRB.
Its my deodorant isn't it?? You can tell me, I won't cry.
Stephen sweetie - ignore the troll...or I wont bring you back a pressie!
Maybe you should start a blog at the address she mentionned with a single post redirecting people to your blog. Would probably give you more traffic...
